Dr. Ramdas M Pai
Eminent Educationist, Chairman of the Board
Dr. Ramdas M Pai has been at the helm of the Manipal network of Educational and Healthcare institutions for over three decades. Dr Pai was instrumental in conceptualizing, articulating and implementing the Global Delivery Model of Education in Manipal. He was the recipient of the Entrepreneur of the Year award by E&Y in the services category.
Dr Pai serves as the President & Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). He is also the Pro Chancellor of the Sikkim-Manipal University of Health, Medical & Technological Sciences, Gangtok, Sikkim and a member of the Executive Council of Assam University.
At the national level, Dr. Ramdas M.Pai has held responsibilities in important organizations. He was an Executive Committee Member of the Medical Council of India and Member of the Dental council of India. He was a member of the Core Group constituted by the Govt. of India to report on the new initiatives on higher education. He is at present a member of the U.P.State Development Council and a member of the Education Council set up by the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Dr Pai was presented the Key to the City of Loma Linda, USA and selected as the National Professor of General Practice / Family Medicine in 1992 by IMA College of General Practitioners. He was awarded the Dr. B.C.Roy National Award for Community Health Work presented by the President of India in 1993 in addition to the intellectuals honor namely 'The Great Son of the Soil' award by All India Conference of Intellectuals in 1997. He has been awarded the Honorary Doctorate by Milwaukee School of Engineering, Andrews University and the Honorary Professor of International Health by the University of Minnesota.
Dr Ramdas Pai is a medical graduate of Karnataka University and a postgraduate in Hospital Administration from Temple University, Philadelphia, USA.
Today KMC Manipal is ranked amongst top three Medical schools in India and Manipal's Medical Biotechnology program is amongst top in the country. Apart from education, Manipal runs 19 hospitals offering the best patient care available anywhere in the country today. |

As a founder, he has mapped the vision and strategy for the organization. He has experience in leveraging Asian competitiveness building successful global business in medical technology for GE and software for Wipro. As Exec Chairman of the Manipal Group, his focus was on developing a research thrust for the Group. Considered a thought leader in Health care and Life Sciences, he has worked in global leadership positions in GE and was Vice Chairman of Wipro. He serves on the board of various Pharma companies and Research institutes.
Prasanna is acknowledged in the healthcare sector as the pioneer in creating a market for high tech. medical equipment and delivering clinical excellence at low patient fees in Asian Hospitals, through innovative strategies. As the startup CEO of GE Medical in India, he also developed a $330 m Global Business in healthcare for GE Medical Systems (GEMS) by leveraging India's competitiveness taking the company from no 5 to No 1. He has also been a founding member of Wipro's team that initiated the company's entry into IT and was Vice Chairman of Wipro Ltd.
He is an independent Director of Take Solutions Ltd. He serves on the Governing Council of Center for Policy Research, India's leading Think Tank and of T A Pai Management Institute, a reputed Business School. He is a Trustee on Shriram Ownership Trust, which shapes the strategy of Shriram group of companies. He has served as Chairman of GEBEL, GEMS IT Ltd and GE X-Ray(South Asia) and Director of GE Yokogawa Medical Systems Ltd, Japan and GE Samsung Ltd, Korea, Wipro GE Medical Systems Ltd, India and Shasun Chemical & Drugs Ltd India. He brings rich experience in pharma and healthcare.

Mr. Arun Duggal is an experienced international Banker advising Indian corporates in Financial Strategy, M&A and Capital Raising areas. Mr. Duggal had 26 years career with Bank of America, mostly outside India. His last assignment with Bank of America as the Chief Executive Officer, India. From 2001-2003 he was CFO of HCL Technologies, India.
He is Chairman of Board of Directors of Shriram Transport Finance Company, Shriram Properties Ltd, Shriram City Union Finance Ltd., and Shriram EPC Limited. He is the Vice Chairman of International Asset Reconstruction Company.
He is on the Board of Directors of Jubilant Energy NV, Patni Computers (Chairman, Audit Committee), Fidelity Fund Management, LNG Petronet (Nominee Director of Asian Development Bank), Zuari Industries, Info Edge (India), Dish TV India Ltd., Mundra Port & SEZ Ltd. and Hertz (India). Dr. H S Ballal
Eminent Educator and Radiologist Director
As the Pro Chancellor of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dr. Ballal is responsible for the challenges of running India's first private University and maintaining academic standards for both faculty and students. Dr. Ballal has been an active member of Indian Medical Association and was elected President of Indian Medical Association, Dakshin Kannada.
He has held leadership positions in Indian Radiology and Imaging Associations and has published several papers in reputed journals. Known for his dynamism and teamwork he recently implemented innovations in patient care and clinical teaching. He directs the activities of the University in academics and regulatory issues for the present and as a foundation for the future. Dr. Ranjan Pai
CEO, Manipal Education and Medical Group
Dr. Ranjan Pai set up the Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), the corporate entity responsible for the administration of new and existing hospitals and the education institutions of the group. He is responsible for conceptualizing the Melaka-Manipal Medical College (MMMC), Malaysia as a world-class international medical college to place Manipal in the global arena. It is a testimony to Dr. Ranjan Pai's skills and a demonstration of the making of an Indian MNC. Besides, Dr. Ranjan Pai is focused on taking up the Education and Healthcare Programme in Western countries like UK & US.
Dr. Pai is a medical graduate of the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and has studied Hospital Administration in the United States. He has an excellent insight into the functioning of large healthcare systems and medical schools, having been exposed to the nuances of healthcare administration and medical education at various stages.

Mr. R Sundara Rajan
Director
Mr. R. Sundara Rajan is a Mechanical Engineer from Jadhaypur University, Calcutta, and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, with around 30 years experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry, out of which 15 years as CEO. He is also a Chartered Engineer and Associate of the Insurance Institute of India.
He has occupied senior management positions in the industry in the areas of marketing, general management. As a Consultant, he was instrumental in setting up a few pharmaceutical projects. His last assignment was as the Executive VP of Matrix Laboratories Ltd one of the fastest growing and most profitable companies in the pharmaceutical industry in India. He is currently on the Corporate Advisory Board of Matrix Laboratories Limited and advisor to the Shriram Group of companies, Chennai.
He has hands on experience in pharmaceutical marketing, pharmaceutical projects and setting up foreign collaboration ventures in India. During a short tenure as Consultant, he was instrumental in bringing the latest pharmaceutical technology into the Country and also introducing good manufacturing practices in the ventures set up by him. |

Dr. Sunny Sharma

Dr. Sunny Sharma is a Senior Managing Director on the Asia team of OrbiMed Advisors. Dr. Sharma has more than 10 years of life sciences experience spanning venture capital, investment banking, and clinical practice.
Dr. Sharma was previously with Investor Growth Capital (IGC), the wholly owned global venture capital arm of Investor AB, and before that he was at Easton Capital, a venture capital fund in New York. While at IGC and Easton Capital, Dr. Sharma led or played a senior role on over a dozen life sciences investments. Earlier in his career, Dr. Sharma was with Lehman Brothers' healthcare investment banking group in London, and before that he practiced medicine in northern India.
Dr. Sharma holds an M.B.A. from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and a medical degree (M.B.B.S.) from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana where he was awarded the Vipin Khanna Memorial Gold Medal for graduating as the best intern. |
