Dr. Ramdas Pai awarded E&Y ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ 2004
 
Bangalore, November 2, 2004: Dr. Ramdas Pai, Chairman of the Manipal Education and Medical Group (Manipal), has been awarded the Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ 2004 in the Services category. The award was presented by Infosys Chief Mentor NR Narayana Murthy and Paul Ostling, Chief Operating Officer Ernst & Young Global, at the award ceremony held in New Delhi last evening.

Recognized globally, the award honours outstanding entrepreneurs who inspire others with their vision, leadership, and achievement. Dr Pai conceptualized, articulated and implemented the Global Delivery Model of Education at Manipal. He was selected as a finalist for his role in globalizing Indian education and contributing to the healthcare needs of the community.

Speaking on his achievement, Dr. Ramdas Pai said, “This award is an honor for Manipal, and for the values we embody. At Manipal our focus is on delivering quality in our core areas of Education, Healthcare and Research. The award also acknowledges our contribution to building up the health standards of our community. It is the result of the tireless efforts put in by every single individual at Manipal.”

Dr Pai has numerous firsts to his credit as the Chairman and President of the Group. Apart from obtaining the deemed university status for MAHE, he also established the first joint venture between the State Government and the Private Sector (Sikkim Manipal University). Under the aegis of the renowned Manipal brand, Dr Pai has benchmarked against the best hospitals worldwide with advanced practices in healthcare.
